Armor / Hall / ????
So... I used a tapestry thing in my hall... I can't save my basic 1.0 armor from Drok's... because it's not Elite...
But I'm totally satisfied with the Necrotic / Cabal look. I don't want to have to make 70k more just to save some armor.
So should the armor not have to be Elite? Or could I atleast save a mixed set of the EotN Elites?
Would it make sense to make such amendments?

It would be nice to display other sets as well, but I understand that they want to encourage people to buy 15k armour to display as a money sink...
I agree with displaying mixed sets though.

GW:EN is a money sink...everything about it is meant to be that way. The money you get from grinding the titles to get the armor is gone in a blink once you get it, and then some.
It's a good way to clear the inventories of some of the more 1337 players, but that only goes so far and gives them something else to hold over other players' heads.
Sure, Anet wants to please the hardcore players. They're the ones who pull the bandwidth numbers up, they're the ones who advertise their game everywhere getting more people in to pay for it, they're the ones who want to make another character so pay $10 on a new character slot once every few months...etc. That's fine...it's business. But make some of these events, titles, trophies a little more accessible to the casual player that you guys were saying you were going to cater to when the game was released. People like me, who could have paid for WoW or gone another direction, but didn't because of the lack of continued monetary investment. You have loyal casual players as well, and you're snubbing them by catering only to the people who play 18 hours a day.

Was that rant directed at me and my comments? I'm flattered that you think I'm an "uber 1337" player, but I hate to inform you that over the last 26 months I have owned and played guild wars I have played a grand total of 853 hours. For 26 months that's actually not a lot at all, and yet I have still managed to get 15k armour on each of my characters, and some even have 2 sets. It's actually not that difficult if you merch everything instead of hoarding. It is well within the grasp of a casual player like myself to get 15k armour on their characters, and so it makes sense that it is only that which gets displayed.
For people who are creative however and make interesting armour combinations I believe that should be rewarded as well, as I stated above. Buying armour to mix gets expensive as well, and there is nothing wrong with an in-game money sink. That's what it being "elite" armour is all about. I do firmly believe that creativity is just as elite as expense though.
So no, I reiterate that I don't think you should simply display all armours, since there is nothing elite about being 'cheap'. It's a reward, and like most rewards you need to be willing to put in a little bit of work. It is within the grasp of every player to get 15k armour, and so it is right to reward the people who are willing to spend the cash to get it.

Holymasamune, you can get the exact same pre-searing armours crafted at max...Then you can wear them.
People are more likely to see them if they're on you, and not stashed in your HoM...

Alot of the 15k looks like poo anyway. My main is a sin, its hard finding any armor that looks cool for a sin. That NF crap was a joke with its 10' blades coming from every orafice. And I have to say I wasnt very impressed with the eotn armor either. But I mixed some armors that were cheap and they look cool. Now i gotta go get the same freaking armor (cept it cost more) from end of game or luxon crafter. Its a silly money sink.
I am sorry for that rant.
short and sweet: I would like to see cheaper armor in the game esp if you prefer to mix. Though I agree with pam and its a money sink and its just a "look i'm leet thing" so it doesnt matter.

Not meaning to burst your bubble...
1k droks armor is
a. not an achievement
b. not to be commended
It's a hall of monuments, which in a way implies that what's commemorated there celebrates a noteworthy achievement/possession.
While armor isn't really an achievement, players would QQ if they couldn't display their gear, so they simple notched it up and said you had to have elite armor.
I guess it sort of makes sense, if you're looking at it from the way ANet looks at 99% of their decisions.

QFT, Although some 1k armors look better than their 15k counterparts IMO.
But the HoM is not about aethetics. It's about achievement.

Eh... There is nothing to stop you from buying a second set of armor just to display something in your HoM (and then just using your old armor). I'm going to /notsign this simpley because we don't know what HoM really does in GW2 yet. I mean, if having elite armor in GW1 provided you some sort of major benefit in GW2, I could understand the complaints about how the HoM works. But since we don't know the rewards yet, I really don't even care about the HoM.

The Hall of Monuments is about your character and their accomplishments. You should be able to display items about your character, not a predefined set of acceptable items.
My Ele has a nice, unique set of armor becuase it's a mixture of 1k peices from other sets. And, in my taste, it looks better than any singular set, 15k or otherwise, that is availible. While using that set, he's defeated the Lich, Shiro, Abbadon, and soon the Great Destroyer(After my Dervish does). It seems like having a set of 1k armor that you've done all that in is more important and worthy of praise and display than a 15k set of armor that was bought last week.
